How much does branding cost? Real ranges for 2026.

It’s the first question on almost every call, usually asked a little sheepishly. “So what does something like this cost?” And the honest answer, “it depends,” is the least useful thing I could say. So here are the real numbers.

Branding costs vary wildly because the word covers everything from a fifty-dollar logo to a six-figure corporate overhaul. Once you know what each price actually buys, the range stops being confusing.

How much does branding cost? In 2026, most businesses spend between $5,000 and $25,000 on a complete brand identity from a senior studio. Freelancers typically charge $500 to $5,000 for a logo and basic identity, full programs that include strategy, identity, and a website usually land between $11,000 and $70,000, and large agencies often charge $100,000 or more. Clutch reports the average branding agency project at about $71,650. The biggest cost drivers are how much strategy is included, how many things need to be designed, and who actually does the work.

The cheapest branding is usually the one you pay for twice.

A logo without a strategy behind it looks fine for a year, then stops fitting the business, and you’re back at the start with a bigger invoice. Most of the expensive rebrands I see were cheap brands first.

The dig

How much does branding cost at each level?

Marketplaces and AI tools, $5 to $500. A logo, often templated or shared with other businesses. Fine for testing an idea. Not a brand.

Freelancers, $500 to $5,000. One designer, a logo, colors, maybe simple guidelines. Great value when you’re early and the strategy is already clear in your head.

Senior studios, $5,000 to $25,000. Strategy, a full identity system, messaging, and guidelines, done by experienced people. This is where most growing businesses get the best return.

Full programs, $11,000 to $70,000. Strategy, identity, messaging, and a new website together, often with a rollout plan. The range depends on the size of the site and how much changes.

Large agencies, $100,000 and up. Research teams, naming, messaging architecture, many stakeholders, and account managers. Built for enterprise complexity, and priced for it.

The find

What drives the cost of branding?

How much strategy is included. A standalone strategy project commonly runs $5,000 to $20,000 at agencies. It’s also the part that decides whether everything else works, so it’s the last place to cut.

How much needs to be made. A logo and colors is one scope. A logo, a full identity system, messaging, a website, signage, and templates is a very different one.

Who does the work. At big agencies you’re paying for layers, account managers, project managers, and overhead, and the senior person who sold the project often isn’t the one doing it. At a senior studio, the person you talk to builds it.

How much is changing. A brand refresh keeps your name and what’s working, so it costs less. A full rebrand after a merger or a big change in what you sell starts from strategy and costs more.

Timeline and revisions. Rush jobs and open-ended revision rounds both add cost. Clutch’s data puts the typical agency branding project at around eight months. Senior studios usually move in six to eight weeks.

Hidden costs of branding nobody mentions

Photography, since great brands need real images. Printing and signage once the new look is done. Updating listings, profiles, and templates across the business. And your own team’s time, which is why a clear, fast process is worth paying for.

How much should a small or mid-sized business spend on branding?

Match the spend to the stage. If you’re just starting and the story is still forming, a good freelancer is fine. Once you’re growing, raising prices, adding people, or competing for bigger clients, a senior studio pays for itself, since a brand that looks like the level you’re playing at closes deals a DIY one can’t. And if you’ve merged, outgrown your name, or changed what you sell, budget for a full rebrand with strategy first.

Where GiddyBrands fits

We’re the senior studio tier: agency-level strategy, design, and websites, from the person you actually talk to, without the agency overhead in the invoice. Every project is one flat rate, quoted before we start, and you own every file when it’s done. Most start with a brand strategy, and many become a rebrand or refresh.

Don’t shop branding by price. Shop it by what’s included and who does the work. The right number is the one that gets it done once, with strategy first, so you’re not paying for it again in two years.

Questions I get on this

How much does branding cost for a small business?

Most small businesses spend $5,000 to $25,000 on a complete brand identity from a senior studio. Freelancers charge $500 to $5,000 for lighter scopes, and programs that add strategy and a website run $11,000 to $70,000.

How much does a rebrand cost?

A brand refresh usually costs less than a full rebrand because you keep your name and much of your identity. A full rebrand starts with strategy and rebuilds identity, messaging, and often the website, so it sits toward the higher end of the ranges.

How much does a logo cost?

Anywhere from a few dollars on a marketplace to $2,500 to $10,000 for a custom logo from an experienced designer. A logo is one piece of a brand identity, and buying one alone is the most common reason businesses end up paying for branding twice.

Why do branding quotes vary so much?

Because “branding” covers very different scopes, from a single logo to strategy, identity, messaging, and a website. Compare what’s included and who does the work, not just the total.

Is it worth paying for brand strategy?

Yes, if the business is growing, changing, or run by partners. Strategy decides who you’re for and what makes you different, which is what makes the logo, website, and marketing work together.
